THÉÂTRE DE VIES DE FEMMES

Philippe Labrune

synopsis

The “Femmes(s)” play at the Angoulême theatre on 12 December 2021 was a great success. The 12 actresses for the day held hands and waved to a jubilant audience. 12 women from the La Grande Garenne-Basseau neighbourhood, all activists in the “Au Fil des Femmes” association. Uprooted, courageous, rebellious and fragile women. Women who have fled their country to save themselves. Who have defied patriarchal prohibitions. Who have crossed borders to save their children. And who fight, every day, to be reborn. On stage, they carry the voices of so many women around the world. Shouting out inequality, discrimination and sexism… and talking about their place in society. Their stories, always singular, are united in the universality of pain. This film tells the story of their 4-month adventure of preparation, rehearsals and performance.
